"14456 Duke of Kent" -- A.S. Hoffman, Jersey City, N.J., Breeder, George Jarvis, New York City. Whelped March 27, 1889; liver, white and ticked; by "Bracket (7835)" out of "Renie (8061)".
-- American Kennel Club Stud Book, Vol.VI, 1889
"Another dog which deserves mention among the importations of this period is
"Tammany",
which was brought over by F.R. Hitchcock. He was a white and liver, very well made, possessing splendid bone and substance; he had his faults, it is true, but he was as pointer which could win in good company on the bench. He was not a bench show winner only, however, for in 1887 he won the Members' stake of the Eastern trials and also the all-age pointer stake the same year. "Tammany" was also the sire of "Renie", which became the dam of "Lad of Kent" when bred to "Bracket", the son of "Graphic". "Lad of Kent" was one of the handsomest heavyweight pointers of his time, and as evidence of this we have only to cite his New York record, where he won highest honors for pointers at the
Westminster Kennel Club show eight or nine years in succession. "Lad of Kent's" last win was made when he was eleven years old."
