New Zealand Ch. Crookrise Gunner (dog, heavily ticked, liver/white, UK Import)
Crookrise General (dog)

"In the late 1960s, with the purchase of "Stamford Senorita", Rose and Russell Leach started the Arista Kennel (New Zealand). At this time there were very few Pointers in New Zealand and "Senorita" was used primarily for hunting but also became foundation bitch of the kennel. ... Gundog specialist, Roy Burnell, encouraged Rose and Russell to import stock from the UK, leading to contact being made with the Crookrise Kennel and a heavily ticked liver and white dog, "Crookrise Gunner", being sent out to them. He was out of "Crookrise Spell" and sired by "Crookrise Guy". Soon he became a champion and won a number of Best in Show awards, but of more importance, "Gunner" made his name as a sire. In 1977 "Stamford Senorita" was mated to him and the Arista affix was taken out at this time. "Gunner" sired twelve champions in ten litters." -- Robertshaw, 2000, Pointers Past & Present
