""Lad of Jingo", winner in ten field trial's was "Jingo's" best producing son. ... He sired "Alpine Lad", a dog which F.D. Garr campaigned for Charles Proctor, of Union City, Indiana, during the early years of the present century. The dog was placed eighteen times, although he was not what could be termed a performer of the first flight, for he had many faults, chief among which was his tendency to trail his bracemate. Garr had a clever way of covering up the dog's shortcomings, however, and once he got him on game, he generally succeed in placing him. Among "Alpine Lad's" wins there are only three firsts; the rest are mostly second, third and fourth places. The dog died very young, and left no important progeny." -- Hochwalt, 1923
